AG600 Completes Minimum Takeoff Speed Compliance Flight Test

Pucheng,Oct.10,2024-- Today, the AG600 amphibious aircraft, designed for firefighting and maritime rescue, successfully completed its minimum takeoff speed compliance flight test in Pucheng, Shaanxi.

The successful completion of this test marks the resolution of the most challenging flight test subjects associated with the project, including stall characteristics, flutter, minimum control speeds in flight and on the ground, and minimum takeoff speed. With these high-risk subjects now successfully addressed, the foundation for safe subsequent certification flights has been firmly established.

The minimum takeoff speed test, conducted after the successful completion of several high-risk tests such as stall characteristics, minimum control speed in flight (VMCA), and minimum control speed on the ground (VMCG), is one of the most demanding and critical phases in the flight testing of transport aircraft. It involves high angles of attack, high attitude, and the full thrust-to-weight ratio range within the ground effect zone. This test plays a crucial role in defining the safety boundaries for aircraft takeoff and landing performance.

Prior to the minimum takeoff speed compliance flight test, the AG600 had already completed the ground minimum control speed (VMCG) compliance flight test. Through seven flights that involved critical engine-out scenarios, the ground minimum control speed of the AG600 was confirmed, validating the aircraft’s ability to maintain lateral and directional control during takeoff as per design specifications. This successful test lays the groundwork for the subsequent AG600 certification flight tests.
